The Day After Tomorrow

The day After Tomorrow With the gates opening at 7pm, (movie starts 8pm) a bar, BBQ meals and a kiosk for drinks and snacks, the community-run MI Sport and Rec Club at Horseshoe Bay will be screening, its Walk-In Movie, this year's climate change catastrophe movie The Day After Tomorrow, tonight and tomorrow night.

With all the special effects you'd expect from a big budget, Hollywood production The Day After Tomorrow depicts a the global weather catastrophe scenario where cyclones, tornadoes, tidal waves and the start of the next ice age take centre stage while paleoclimatologist (someone who studies ancient weather patterns) Prof Adrian Hall, finds himself headed north towards a freezing New York - while everybody else is headed south to avoid the cold - to reach his son and save the world at the same time.

Following are some critic's comments:
"Taken as a resoundingly escapist throwback to the glory days of Irwin Allen's signature genre, The Day After Tomorrow is a bona-fide a good way."

"The Day After Tomorrow is a camp classic and a modern day Poseidon Adventure."

"Despite spots which are sappy and unintentionally funny, The Day After Tomorrow does deliver what it promises: a big, wild, bring-it-on disaster flick"
Staci Layne Wilson, HORROR.COM

"If it's spectacle you crave at the movies, this is the place."
James Verniere, BOSTON HERALD

"The best environmentalist action movie since Steven Seagal's On Deadly Ground."
Fred Topel, ABOUT.COM

The MI Sport and Rec Club is a volunteer run Magnetic Island club for all ages and is well worth supporting for an inexpensive family night out.
