Firelight debut at Musos Club this Saturday

Kelly Joy from Firelight Ex-Melbourne singer Kelly Joy and Townsville guitarist Trevor Neilson will be making their debut performance as 'Firelight', this Saturday night at Magnetic Island Musos Club.

Kelly spent ten years performing in various musical theatre productions around Melbourne before moving north where she's been singing with Aquapella for the last four years. She told Magnetic Times, "I decided to pursue a lifelong dream of creating a duet with a talented musician. Along came Trevor Neilson from Townsville, a dedicated guitar player who had worked with duets in the past.

"Firelight was created with the idea of entertaining people with songs that they might enjoy if they were all sitting around a campfire on a cold winter night. A group with a folk rock influence, covering artists such as Dido and Jewel," said Kelly.

Kelly describes the music as "easy listening from a decade ago." For this, their debut, expect 5 or 6 songs from Firelight.

But of course there is always more to Musos Club's monthly gig where there's a great opportunity for newbies and unknown performers to get up for a set and for audiences to know there will be some guaranteed quality musos in the house on the night.

This Saturday the musical journeymen into the history of Caribbean music, Banana Band, comprising Mark Hannan and Ray Kennedy return as does the powerful rock of Tailor Made. Bruno Berthelot is also back with more passionately performed originals while Marley - Magnetic's madman with a more-or-less musical mission - will also grace the stage.

We are also informed that Musos Club members and anyone interested are encouraged to attend the Club's AGM which will, this year, be held at the RSL Hall in Arcadia on Saturday December 3 at 2pm.

Musos Club nights don't just feature great music and a friendly get together environment but also include affordable food from the RSL kitchen and the Bar stays open throughout.

Entry contributions of $5 for non-members and a gold coin from members are appreciated. Under 18s are also very welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Entry contributions are not expected from under 18s

Where: RSL Hall, Hayles Avenue Arcadia
When: Doors open from 7.30pm till midnight, Saturday 12 November.

Syl Hayes In reply to Fair raises $15,000 for school
What a wonderful outcome for the school! I had a great time face-painting with Luke and Sasha, met lots of kids and parents, scored some great books at the Trash n Treasure stall, and even remembered to vote. Everywhere you looked people were enjoying themselves...such a tribute to the organisers. Well done!
