Let the Bay Dayz begin

With 54 events in just one month the monster Magnetic Island Bay Dayz Festival, now in it’s sixth year, is set to kick off this Friday 6 September with a ‘A Portrait Of Maggie’, an exhibition by renowned painter Peter Lawson, plus the Barramundi Brothers at the Festival opening at Barefoot Gallery in Horseshoe Bay at 6.30pm. It then it continues throughout September with over 54 events to choose from!

There’s something for everyone during Festival month on Maggie, from the Community Fair, the Best Of Magnetic Ocean Classic, the Maggie Motor & Bike Show, a Kids Corroboree, the Spring Equinox Fair, exhibitions, workshops, eco walks and talks for adults and kids, Tastes Of Magnetic restaurant discounts, Movies Under The Stars, Mega Markets and the favourite family Sand Sculpture Competition, and, (back by popular demand), the Festival’s Scarecrow Trail.

For the full month of the Festival, local residents are displaying scarecrows in their front yards to make up this year’s Scarecrow Trail. With the trail to be launched on the 6th September, it’s featuring over 25 incredibly creative and fun scarecrows around the island.

Over the past six years MICDA (Magnetic Island Community Development Association) has built on the great partnerships with local community groups, artists, businesses and volunteers who all contribute to four weeks of varied activities.

Tonia In reply to The ongoing price of Nelly Bay Harbour
It's 14 years since I last visited Maggy. I am shocked by Nelly Bay and saddened. It is insensitive, ugly and juxtaposed to the essence of Maggy. I embrace progress in general, but this is poorly conceived and executed. Shame.
