It's that time of year again: when the home to Magnetic Island's legendary Bay of Origin footy matches, Walk-In Movies, Kid's discos, Santa-on-a-stallion Christmas parties and a myriad of other sporting and community activities, looks to the Magnetic Island community for new volunteers and committee members to get involved by coming forward for the Annual General Meeting of the Magnetic Island Sport and Recreation Club to be held this Saturday at the Club on Horseshoe Bay road at 3pm.

Good fortune visits our group once again. Lama Choedak Rinpoche is visiting Magnetic Buddha Dharma Tuesday 13 July and Wednesday 14 July. Program details are yet to be confirmed but it is anticipated that the program will include teaching Calm Abiding Meditation for 3 - 4 hrs on Wednesday daytime.

It's 14 years since I last visited Maggy. I am shocked by Nelly Bay and saddened. It is insensitive, ugly and juxtaposed to the essence of Maggy. I embrace progress in general, but this is poorly conceived and executed. Shame.
