Rescue Permits for wildlife
Members of the public often come across sick or injured animals on Magnetic Island. Many of these animals require care so that they can be rehabilitated and released back into their natural habitat. It is important to realise that there are restrictions on holding and caring for some species which live on the Island.

Turtle Deaths
Recently there have been a number of small turtles found dead on beaches around Magnetic Island and Townsville. These deaths appear to have been caused by a number of environmental impacts, some of them human induced. These include boat strike, entanglement in nets and lines, and ingestion of foreign objects.
