Major Creek School has gone, but is not yet forgotten and the Residents have some unfinished business to attend to. In 1984 a Time Capsule was buried in the school grounds as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations and it was to be opened in 25years, 2009. Alas the school has gone but the capsule is still here, and it will be opened on the 15th September 2012, at the Reunion for all Past students since 1934.

We hope to make it a Celebration to remember the good times, and to have a formal goodbye to the school, Past students, and Families, and open the Time Capsule. We need your help in organising this event to be a Last Blast Reunion for MCSS. We want RSVPs, Contacts, Photos, Memories, if you were connected to our Community and School we want YOU! Especially if you were involved in the 1984 Time Capsule, bring your children and show them what you put in it.

Our Community is hoping to make this a Big Get Back Together Reunion for the people involved at the school from 1934 – 2008 but we need numbers and information.
Final preparations for the Event will be published after this information is gathered so we know how many to cater for, including children, for fun things to do.

What to play in a steel band?
I am retired, recently arrived on Magnetic island, and would like to start a West Indian Steelband ( again.. I started one in Noosa Heads 10 years ago.. google 'pantastic steelband' to see it ). I have another set of pans, from Trinidad, where I grew up. No formal musical training is needed, only an 'ear for music' and the ability to tell if a note is sharp or flat.
The goal is to play genuine Caribbean Calypso music here on Magnetic Island. To come round to our house in Arcadia to try the pans, Tel 07- 47581738 Clive Stead
