TCC notice regarding Picnic Sewerage Upgrade

Following is an important message from Townsville City Council regarding the termination of work on Stage 3 of the Picnic Bay Sewerage Upgrade.

Townsville City Council has instructed the Contractor constructing Stage 3 of the Picnic Bay Sewerage Upgrade to terminate work over concerns with their performance on the project.

The Contractor has been advised to cease all construction work but will be required to backfill all trenches and ensure the site is safe before they leave.

Council is aware there are some properties with outstanding restoration issues and other properties where work has not yet commenced. Restoration of properties will be completed as soon as possible by another contractor and the remainder of the unfinished works is likely to be awarded as a separate contract.

If you have any queries, please call the projects Stakeholder Relations Manager, Kristy Lankester on 1800 818 717 or email

Council appreciates your patience during this time.

I personally thought simmons were doing quite well under the incredibly hot and wet conditions. They worked extremely long hours and tolerated harsh conditions. The workers were always very polite and minded their own business.
Just goes to show, nothing is permanent. The other contractors will have to be very good now. (abridged Ed)

I agree with you Barb.
No problems at all from my end with Simmons. Seems to me they were doing an excellent job.
They worked hard & long in tough conditions & were always (for me) approachable & polite. When our place was finished they came back TWICE to check we were happy with their work. What went wrong?

Syl Hayes In reply to Fair raises $15,000 for school
What a wonderful outcome for the school! I had a great time face-painting with Luke and Sasha, met lots of kids and parents, scored some great books at the Trash n Treasure stall, and even remembered to vote. Everywhere you looked people were enjoying themselves...such a tribute to the organisers. Well done!
