Artists to open studios for MI Arts Safari
Magnetic Island has always been more than a beautiful tropical holiday destination. Its diverse community is also home to many artists and, as part of the forthcoming Bay Days Festival, Island artists will be opening their studios and workshops to visitors for the, self-guided, 2nd annual Magnetic Island Art Safari.
The Safari will be held on Wednesday September 8. Opening times are between 9am and 3pm. Following last year's success, this year, 17 artists and galleries and two craft-groups will participate in the island-wide, self-guided tour.

There will also be a special Art Safari luncheon, put on by Barefoot: art food wine Restaurant and Gallery in Horseshoe Bay. At the luncheon, art lovers can meet one another and chat over fine food at the reserved table on the balcony, surrounded by gallery art. They will have a special safari-themed menu available. There will also be talks on art, wine and artistic food preparation by hosts Sasha and David Stafford and head chef Toby.
Visitors to the island will find it quite easy to get around the island suburb. Distances are small, with only 11kms of main road; buses running regularly all day, fun little rental cars that are an attraction in themselves and a vehicular ferry from Townsville for those who prefer to BYO car.

Brochures with artists’ bios and a map of their studios will be available at Sunferries and FantaSea ferry terminals, and Discovery Travel or Tropical Topless Car Rentals (both near the ferry terminal) and several locations on the island. Or download the full brochure (Here).
