Contrary to the announcement by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Nelly Bay Harbour main breakwater landscaping does NOT work. (The removal of the full stop at the end of the heading - it is a phrase rather than a sentence, because the word 'works' is used as a noun and not a verb, and so does not warrant a full stop - would have accurately represented what the Department, presumably, intended to say.) Pedantic? Maybe. But maybe I'm sick of highly paid, presumably educated bureaucrats who are paid to write, setting a bad example for those trying to learn the language. But, no maybe about it, I'm furious that tax-payers are being forced to pay $627,000 + GST ($627,000 + GST!!!) for landscaping that was the acknowledged responsibility of the developers of the environmental, social and economic disaster that is Nelly Bay Harbour.

Syl Hayes In reply to Fair raises $15,000 for school
What a wonderful outcome for the school! I had a great time face-painting with Luke and Sasha, met lots of kids and parents, scored some great books at the Trash n Treasure stall, and even remembered to vote. Everywhere you looked people were enjoying themselves...such a tribute to the organisers. Well done!
