PCYC for Island

MISS children at PCYC Any children enrolled from prep to grade 7 on Magnetic Island are invited to join the newly-formed Police Citizens Youth Club - a not for profit organisation improving Queensland communities through youth development - which is being held before and after school and during school holidays at the MI State School.

According to PCYC's Branch Manager, Gil Napper, "PCYC aims to provide affordable recreational and sporting activities for families and to provide support programs for youth at risk".

Magnetic Island Co-ordinator, Kathryn Rowland told Magnetic Times, "The vacation care program has activities such as paper mache dinosaur making, face painting, PJ day and an excursions to the museum. Other activities on offer every day include indoor games and puzzles, arts and crafts, books, a homework corner and outdoor games.

"Enrolment for children to the centre is free, PCYC membership is a small cost which has been waivered for the first year of membership."

"The number of children attending the service dictates the number of adults. Our ratio is 1:15 so a minimum of 2 staff with myself as an extra. Excursions will have a lower adult to children ratio.

"We believe interest in the community is high. We have had some positive feedback and look forward to meeting new parents soon," said Kathryn.

The PCYC will be available for vacation care and pupil free days 6.45am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday (not including public holidays)
Before school 6.45am to 8.25 am Monday to Friday
After School 2.25pm to 6.00pm Monday to Friday

For more information contact Kathryn Rowland on: 0429 305 192 or visit
