Pecha Kucha is back tomorrow night

Try saying the words "Pecha Kucha" like the muppets' song "Manamana" and you have learnt a fun Japanese word for "chit-chat" which, over the last ten years, has also become a world-wide sensation for artists, designers, activists and just about anybody with a creative idea they want to share, to get it out to an appreciative audience.

Late last year your editor presented his own concept of gathering friends at parties behind a banner related to a cause you would expect many to support, take a photo and post it to social media. A visual petition -it was called a "pictition" - get it?

The format is 20 slides x 20 seconds. In all each presenter gets just under 7 minutes each to show off their work and present their ideas.

Now, Pecha Kucha is back for a new event in Townsville tomorrow night. It will also co-incide with Pecha Kucha's 10th anniversary and 100th edition celebrations in Tokyo.

In Townsville Pecha Kucha will be held at the School of Arts Theatre, (home to Dancenorth) @ 6.30pm, tomorrow, Wednesday 20th February.

Presenters will be:
David Metcalfe - Places, People and Interactions
Bob Dennis– 60′s Heinkel motor scooter trip from Germany to Darwin via the Khyber Pass
Sandy McCathie - Director of ecoSAVVY / Reducing our FOOD Footprint
Alan Carpenter– Project director / Discovery Rise meets the MOOCs
Adam Brown – Photomedia lecturer, SoCA
Vicki Salisbury – Director of Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts
Jo Lankester – Brush & Press Studio
Robert Crispe – A year as an ArtStart Grant recipient - Experieces in Australia and Europe.

Entry is free and all are welcome.
