Like to share your "Recollections"?

Stubberfield ceramic Last year the Museum of Tropical Queensland held an unusual exhibition. It was based simply on objects collected by people. Called To Have and To Hold, the display brought together an exciting, rich and fascinating variety of objects (and people) with collections ranging from stubby coolers to Steve Price’s TV vests, from old telephones to a 1905 Peugeot car.

The collectors were thrilled to be able to display their precious objects and share in designing their display environment. It was a resounding success, thoroughly enjoyed by the collectors and museum visitors.

Exhibition curator and Magnetic Island resident Vivienne Moran said that following a large number of requests by both other collectors and visitors to run a second similar display, the museum is once again providing collectors with another opportunity to share their passion with others in a new display titled Recollections.

In addition to the objects on display, there will be some space available for ‘curious’ objects about which little is known, providing the opportunity for people to help in the identification process.

If you would like to participate and see your own collection on display at the museum for approximately two months from the end of July, please contact Viv at the MTQ on 4726 0643, or

Syl Hayes In reply to Fair raises $15,000 for school
What a wonderful outcome for the school! I had a great time face-painting with Luke and Sasha, met lots of kids and parents, scored some great books at the Trash n Treasure stall, and even remembered to vote. Everywhere you looked people were enjoying themselves...such a tribute to the organisers. Well done!
