Carols by Candlelight - Alma Bay, Magnetic Island

Following is a message from Ecumenical Committee of all of Magnetic Island's churches.

Carols by Candlelight will be held this year on Thursday 13th December from 7:00 PM sharp.

There will be lots of popular carols for everyone to sing. The very excellent Townsville Brass Band will lead the carols supported by Song-leader Rhianna McCourt with a supporting Choir.

The Magnetic Island State School will present the Christmas pageant.

Top singers, Christobel Turnbull and Rhianna McCourt will sing solos.

Carol sheets will be provided free.

Suggestion - bring a torch to help read the words.

While Carols by Candlelight is given freely by the churches of Magnetic Island to our community, an offering is taken up to help needy people.

This year the offering will be sent to the Baucau Leprosy Clinic in Timor Leste. Timor Leste (East Timor) is one of only a couple of places in the world where leprosy hasn’t been eradicated and people still suffer. Bacau Clinic treats about 500 people a year, is in desperate need of funds and receives no government support. It is an outreach of the Catholic Church in East Timor. Please give generously.

The people of Timor Leste helped Australian diggers during WW2 at great cost to themselves.

There will be plenty of seating but bring a rug to sit on the grass if you wish. If weather is unkind ….. RSL Hall.

It will be good if families can stay together. (The Alma Park Games area will not be available for the hour of the Carols.)

C & K Magnetic Island Early Childhood Centre will be operating a sausage sizzle from 4.45pm until 6.45pm at Alma Bay. Sausages and soft drinks will be available for purchase along with ‘flame-free’ candles to enhance your enjoyment of the evening.

Organised by the Ecumenical Committee of all the Magnetic Island Churches

Alcohol and Smoking free.
