A young koala's beach adventure

July 26th 2012
Free submission writing bootcamp and more

Locals will know that our RSL on Magnetic has been struggling of late. But that hasn't stopped the dedicated volunteers from putting together a bunch of events this weekend that will appeal to a very wide range of residents and visitors alike.

Last month the RSL planned a very useful Grants Writing Bootcamp but that was postponed due to illness. The presenter, Mr Gerard Byrne, is however back this Saturday from 9am to noon for this valuable free event. (See poster below).

But wait, there's more! From 9am-1pm the RSL is running a Trash & Treasure. You know what they say about how your trash could be somebody else's treasure. So why not give it a try. Come along and see, or rent a table for just $5 and display your goodies. This is a perfect chance to recycle your goods especially with the recent demise of the island's Lifeline store. Drinks and snacks available too.

Than, later on, from 6.30pm - 10pm don't forget the special MI Film Society Night supporting World Ranger Day by showing the fascinating documentary Thin Green Line about park rangers from around the world who put their lives on the line to save the animals from poachers.

Dinner is available and the bar opens at 6.30pm. The films starts at 8pm and they ask for a $10 donation ($5 for children)

Syl Hayes In reply to Fair raises $15,000 for school
What a wonderful outcome for the school! I had a great time face-painting with Luke and Sasha, met lots of kids and parents, scored some great books at the Trash n Treasure stall, and even remembered to vote. Everywhere you looked people were enjoying themselves...such a tribute to the organisers. Well done!
