Smoke from Horseshoe Bay Road

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will conduct a planned burn today, Monday 18th July 2011, along the Horseshoe Bay Road.

As a result, smoke may be seen along the section of road between Curlew Flats and the Forts area.

These burns are part of the planned fuel reduction burning program for Magnetic Island to reduce the risk of wildfire during the hotter months.

Smoke may affect the road and traffic control will be in place. Townsville City Council and Department of Environment and Resource Management staff will be assisting with the burn.

For more information, please call Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service on Magnetic Island on 4778 5378.
