Scott Cam to host Solar suburb Trade Expo

Scott Cam Australian television personality, Scott Cam will host the Solar Suburb Trade Expo and Incentive Launch on Magnetic Island this coming Tuesday, 11 May.

Since the inception of the Townsville Queensland Solar City project, more than two thirds of Magnetic Island residents have participated in a free energy assessment.

Changes in energy use behaviour after an assessment have led to in one in five participants maintaining a reduction in electricity use by over 30% for six months or longer.

“To encourage these residents to keep up the good work and encourage others to join them, a new incentive is being launched at the Solar Suburb Trade Expo,” said Julie Heath, Solar City Community Engagement Manager.

“More than 20 suppliers and retailers will promote the latest market offerings in natural and LED lighting, solar power, heat pump technology, pool heating, inverter air conditioning and 5-star appliances as well as options for improved thermal performance like insulation, ventilation, heat reflective paint, window tinting and shade,” she said

“This will introduce residents to new ways of reducing energy consumption without compromising their relaxed island lifestyle” she said.

Scott Cam, a qualified builder known for his contribution to programs like Backyard Blitz, Renovation Rescue, Burke’s Backyard and Domestic Blitz, will also share building and renovating advice for retrofitting homes with renewable energy and electricity conservation in mind.

The Solar Suburb Trade Expo is being held from 4pm to 7pm at the Smart Lifestyle Centre on Horseshoe Bay Road, Magnetic Island. There will be an outdoor cooking demonstration and visitors can win a BBQ and other prizes.

The Ergon Energy led Townsville Queensland Solar City project is part of the Australian Government’s national Solar Cities program. The Magnetic Island Solar Suburb is the focal point of the project.

Syl Hayes In reply to Fair raises $15,000 for school
What a wonderful outcome for the school! I had a great time face-painting with Luke and Sasha, met lots of kids and parents, scored some great books at the Trash n Treasure stall, and even remembered to vote. Everywhere you looked people were enjoying themselves...such a tribute to the organisers. Well done!
