A young koala's beach adventure

February 11th 2007

Following is the February 2007 VOL 6 Issue 1 newsletter for the Magnetic Island Community Development Association.

Gardeners Participation sought
Rain, glorious rain! Keen Island gardeners are doubtless revelling in the soft soil.

Would you like your garden to be considered for Australia's Open Gardens Weekend over the Queens Birthday, this year? What is needed? Here's a description from the National Open Gardens co-ordinator:
*30 minutes of interest in an individual garden or a group of small gardens
*a reasonable standard of maintenance
*garden not totally visible from the road/street (otherwise why pay!!)
*a garden that inspires and encourages others to garden

and a reasonable level of the following:
*design strength and quality
*significant plant material
*maybe historical/community significance eg street plantings
*good plantsmanship ie good/suitable specimens, appropriately planted
*something original/imaginative/inspiring
*difficulties in site/soil/climate etc being well handled

What do you think? Send us your comments.

Syl Hayes In reply to Fair raises $15,000 for school
What a wonderful outcome for the school! I had a great time face-painting with Luke and Sasha, met lots of kids and parents, scored some great books at the Trash n Treasure stall, and even remembered to vote. Everywhere you looked people were enjoying themselves...such a tribute to the organisers. Well done!
