Remember loved ones on Heart Sunday

The National Heart Foundation of Australia is holding their annual ecumenical Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving at St Paul's Lutheran Church 38 Townsend St Mysterton.

Starting at 4:30pm, the service will bring together people in the region who have lost someone special to cardiovascular disease (heart disease, stroke or blood vessel disease) and provides an opportunity to remember them by name and to light a candle in their memory. It is also a time to be thankful for those who survived and are still here to share our lives with us today.

"The Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving is a very moving tribute for those whose loved ones have died from cardiovascular disease," said Karen Uhlmann NQ Development Officer Heart Foundation (Queensland Division).

"This service is a special way to acknowledge the Heart Foundation's gratitude to those who have supported our life-saving work through gifts in their Wills and to families who have arranged memorial donations in memory of their loved ones," said Ms Uhlmann.

Since 1959, the Heart Foundation has worked to significantly reduce the number of Australians suffering from cardiovascular disease (includes heart, stroke and blood vessel disease). Despite many achievements, cardiovascular disease is still Australia's leading cause of death - claiming a life every 10 minutes.

Anyone who would like to attend the Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving and have the name of a loved one mentioned during the Service, please contact the Heart Foundation on (07) 4721 4686.

As Australia's leading heart health charity, the Heart foundation is funded almost entirely by generous donations from the public.

Open your doors and your hearts and support the Heart Foundation 2006 Doorknock Appeal, taking place Queensland-wide from 2-15 September 2006.

Tonia In reply to The ongoing price of Nelly Bay Harbour
It's 14 years since I last visited Maggy. I am shocked by Nelly Bay and saddened. It is insensitive, ugly and juxtaposed to the essence of Maggy. I embrace progress in general, but this is poorly conceived and executed. Shame.
